Note from shop owner Greetings from the forest ~As some of you have reached out to me and to Ashton over the past year with concern due to my hiatus on my fashion label and long absence from all things digital, I felt it was time to officially say goodbye. This is not a sad goodbye, but given that I go for months on end without even thinking about things like Facebook, let alone making a dress, I think it is fair to say it is not just a hiatus.

Twenty years is a long time to do anything. Running a business that requires constant management and interaction with people several times a day was just not ultimately sustainable for me given the other things I've come to care about in my life. A few years ago I turned over my fashion label mostly to other people because I wanted to pursue my intellectual interests in organizational behavior. The psychology of people - particularly in groups - has always fascinated me, and focusing on it allowed me to do much more study and research in a very large, global organization I am very glad to work within. I am now serving on the leadership team of that organization, and I am in the midst of completing another master's degree, this time with Harvard, in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. The program is rigorous as are my responsibilities to the hundreds of people I work to understand, support and grow.

I have loved my time as a small business owner, fashion designer and even model. I loved getting to know my clients over these years, some of whom have become friends. Our shared love of the darkly beautiful and romantic has created a community that I will always be grateful for. And of course, the love of my life, my best friend and greatest supporter of all, Ashton Nyte, will never stop creating the dark and beautiful sounds that have been the soundtrack to my life since I was only 17 years old, so it is not as though I will no longer be a part of that community. Rather, by no longer spending hours a day sewing and answering emails and ordering fabric, etc. I now have more time to spend listening to his art and being a part of his creative process, which I am honored to do. To that end, if you would like to stay in touch, please do so through The Awakening and Ashton Nyte. I am very much a part of what he does and will respond to any inquiries sent there. I wish you all love, freedom, safety, and joy. Thank you for twenty years of Rose Mortem. Much love ~ Rose Nyte
